What We Fix Remotely — and What We Refer to Bench

Alabama Computer Support is a remote-first practice. The list below is split cleanly into two groups: tickets we solve over a secure screen-sharing session without anyone leaving their desk, and tickets that need a bench — which we route to our trusted Arab bench. Both queues are priced honestly and quoted before any work.

Solved Over a Remote Session

  • Virus and malware removal — Adware, browser hijackers, ransomware triage, and the fake “Microsoft support” popup chain — closed out over screen-sharing with account audits included.
  • Slow computer repair and speed optimization — Software-side performance work: bloat removal, startup cleanup, Windows state repair, driver cleanup. If the root cause turns out to be hardware, we stop and refer to bench.
  • Network troubleshooting and connectivity issues — Home router, Wi-Fi, VPN, and printer-on-the-network tickets. Most of these resolve remotely; the rare cases that need wiring or hardware swap go to on-site referral.
  • Business IT support and maintenance — Monthly retainer coverage for small offices, patch management, user-account fixes, Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace troubleshooting, and the day-to-day helpdesk tickets that do not require a truck roll.

Referred to the Arab Bench

  • Hard drive replacement and upgrades — Physical drive swaps, SSD upgrades, RAM upgrades. Handed off to the bench with a written intake note so the technician already knows the history.
  • Data recovery from damaged or failing drives — Imaging-first handling of mechanically failing drives. Clean-room escalation through bench partners when warranted. Every recovery attempt quoted in writing before any work.
  • Laptop screen repair (select machines only — confirm fit before drop-off) — Bench-handled on a vetted model list. Confirm panel availability before shipping or dropping off.

Peripheral and Device Setup

Connectivity-related device setup is part of any remote troubleshooting session — a printer being added to a freshly fixed network, a tablet signed in during a user-account ticket, an accessory paired as part of a workstation fix. As a stand-alone scheduled call, general peripheral setup is not something we book separately.

Remote Session Pricing

  • Remote session: $40 per 15-minute block
  • Small-business monthly retainer: from $85/month
  • Bench-referred work: priced by the bench, quoted in writing before any labor

A phone call opens the session. We decide remote vs bench within the first few minutes — remote if it is solvable without hands on the machine, bench if it is not. Either way, the path is clear before anyone is billed.
